I first started making collars as they were so expensive here in N.Z. and I wanted something nice for the dogs. Then I made them as gifts for friends overseas using N.Z fabrics. I was making a couple for friends and as I have a lot of trouble putting hardware on after a head injury I sat and did with them Lyn. Lyn had given up work due to the pain on the bone cancer. She loved them and kept insisting I sell them. Who would buy my stuff? It is hand made and there are so many lovely ones out there. We had fun dreaming up ideas for collars.
On the way home in tears as I often did feeling so helpless seeing my wonderful friend in such pain and not able to help. Lyn was always there to help everyone and there wasn’t anything I could do. Next day a light bulb went on. I can help. I can make collars and sell with all the money going to the Bone Cancer Organisation to raise fund for research. Lyn thought the idea was brilliant and together we went to work. We had so much fun and I the pain seem to ease for her as we drank coffee and laughed together.
